Hello, my name is Alma De La Vara. I have worked in Training and Management Developement for a little over 3 years. I actually fell into HR after I completed an MBA (long story) and love to be in the career development branch of HR. I am here for networking purposes. I am a firm believer of using technology in HR. My current company doesn't see it this way and its unfortunate. I am happy to be part of this group and look forward to meeting other professionals!

Hello Everyone,

I'm Kimberley and I chose HR during my undergraduate studies in Jamaica and here I am over 7 years later PHR certified and still in the field! So far I have worked in the non-profit sector in HR roles and hope to move into the Public/For-Profit sector eventually.

I am a Human Resources Professional from San Juan, Puerto Rico with 15 years of senior management experience, in small to large companies with international exposure managing several areas within the HR arena.
I started in this profession as a student intern with Eastern airlines, several years later I was appointed by a former governor of Puerto Rico Director of labor standards. This appointment launches my career expectations because shortly before the end of my term I was offered an HR Director position with a Baskin Robbins, position held for several years. During my tenure with Baskin Robbins, I received an offer to work as a Sr. industrial Relations/Human Resources Director for a French company doing business in Puerto Rico name Ondeo. Upon Ondeo move out back to France, I decided to move back to the United States to reside in Dallas, Texas.

I enjoy my career in Human Resources, and plan to continue with this career track. My greatest challenge has been this current economical crisis in which I became part of a company re-organization with redirected my career into other avenues, but currently I’m looking to get back in route to my next HR landing.

Is my advice to anyone in this field that the sky is the limit. In the HR arena there are many opportunities for Latinos, and for everyone who is bilingual. This is our time to put our leadership into action.
